Médoc stretches northwest of Bordeaux
along the Gironde
estuary. At the northern end quality estates are making seriously good wines, like
Ch. Potensac, La Tour de By
and Patache d'Aux to name
just three. But Preuillac is one to watch out for,
especially since it was purchased by négociant firm Yvon Mau in the late nineties. Run in the purest Médoc tradition by a team dedicated to their profession, all
harvesting is done by hand. The Merlot Cabernet blend is well structured, with
a wealth of aromas such as toast and vanilla, very ripe fruit, leather. This
great vintage would really benefit from another 4-5 years cellaring to achieve
full maturity, but can you keep your hands off it?

Les vins sont puissants charpentés, présentant une grande richesse aromatique; un vin
de garde par excellence, il
devra attendre 4-5 ans avant de s'épanouir.
